Itinerary
The journey begins early morning with a pickup at 5:00 AM from Chandigarh Railway Station. After assembling, we proceed by road towards Jaon village, the base point of the Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra. The scenic drive takes you through the beautiful hills of Shimla, Narkanda, and Rampur, offering mesmerizing views of the Himalayas, rivers, and pine forests. The route is a perfect introduction to the spiritual adventure ahead. Upon reaching Jaon (approx. 10–12 hours), check-in at a pre-arranged guesthouse or homestay. Relax, acclimatize, and prepare for the challenging trek that starts the next day.
After an early breakfast, the trek begins from Jaon village at an altitude of approximately 2,560 meters. The trail to Thachdu covers around 12 kilometers and takes you through dense pine forests, wooden bridges, and crystal-clear mountain streams. As you ascend steadily, enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and lush valleys. The path is moderately challenging and requires good physical fitness. You will reach Thachdu, located at about 3,150 meters, by late afternoon. Check into your campsite, relax, and prepare for the next day’s trek.
After an early breakfast, start the trek from Thachdu at an altitude of around 3,150 meters toward Bheemdwar, covering approximately 10 kilometers. The route takes you through the challenging Kali Ghati pass, where you’ll experience steep climbs and spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. The trail passes through dense forests, rocky paths, and scenic meadows, making it both physically demanding and visually rewarding. Reach Bheemdwar at about 3,870 meters by late afternoon. Rest at the campsite and prepare for the next day’s trek.
Start early after breakfast with a challenging trek from Bheemdwar at around 3,870 meters altitude to the holy shrine of Shrikhand Mahadev, located at approximately 5,150 meters. The 12 km trek is steep and demanding, passing through rocky terrain, glaciers, and breathtaking mountain views. At the summit, witness the majestic 75-feet tall natural Shivling, revered as a divine manifestation of Lord Shiva. After performing darshan and offering prayers, begin the return trek back to Bheemdwar. Overnight stay at the campsite. Meals included.
After breakfast, begin your return journey from Bheemdwar to Thachdu, covering approximately 7 kilometers via the majestic Kali Ghati. The descent offers mesmerizing views of the mountains and valleys from a new perspective. Though the trail is mostly downhill, it still requires caution due to rocky sections and steep slopes. Take your time to enjoy the natural beauty and spiritual atmosphere. Arrive at Thachdu by afternoon and relax at the campsite.
After breakfast, begin the final leg of your trek from Thachdu back to Jaon village, covering approximately 12 kilometers. The route descends through dense pine forests, serene valleys, and wooden bridges, offering a peaceful and reflective end to the spiritual journey. Enjoy the natural beauty one last time as you make your way back to the base point at Jaon (2,560 meters). On arrival, check into the guesthouse or homestay and rest after completing this rewarding yatra.
After breakfast, begin the return journey from Jaon to Chandigarh, marking the end of the sacred Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra. The scenic drive retraces the route through Rampur, Narkanda, and Shimla, giving you one last glimpse of the Himalayan beauty. Expect to reach Chandigarh by around 11:00 PM. From here, you can proceed to your respective home destinations with divine blessings and unforgettable memories.
